Fall Fun

OK, maybe not fun for Nona to have hay poking her in the bum, but the rest of the earthy, harvesty, pumpkin festivities have been fun so far.  Ladera hosted a pumpkin patch with a Flashlight Candy hunt in the grass a la Easter Egg Hunt. The boys had fun begin super heroes.
We had Mindy's recipe for dinner in a pumpkin- delicious!
I took the boys to Pumpkin City, a carnival in the mall parking lot that's way over priced unless you use coupons. So I saved my coupons and when I got there, after hyping up how much fun we were going to have to the boys, the lady at the ticket counter so kindly points out to me that my coupons are expired.  Yuck. I am not spending money on these things (bounce house, train ride, drive the four wheeler, etc) when we can do them for free other times. So after much explaining to the boys of why, no, we don't need to borrow money from someone, we're choosing not to spend our money on it, we went around and found every free thing we could do.  Like jumping over pumpkins,

 riding horses,
 making piggy faces,
feeding the pigs (I did have some quarters in the diaper bag),
 measuring how tall we are,
Gabe is 39 in, Austin is 44 in,
 Riding on wagons,
 Doing the quarter machines,
and pretending to be ghosts! All in the name of frugality. I was impressed at how well the boys handled it even with all the carnival rides going on around them.
Gabe made a delicious popcorn hand at his preschool party!
We took a trip to Centennial Farms again up in Costa Mesa and saw some cute piggies- no wonder those mama pigs have to eat and eat constantly- I feel like I have to eat all the time and I'm only feeding one baby!

Way to go frugal mama!! The pumpkin patch can get pretty pricey fast! It's hard sometimes but so worth it to teach our kids the importance of saving money. Good for your boys for having great attitudes!
