Scott and Tesha Lamb Dec 17, 2011

Congratulations Scott and Tesha!!

We met Tesha for the first time ever in the sealing room inside the Washington DC temple! And we are so happy for Scott to have such a wonderful wife, and a fabulous new sister in the family!  It was a treat to meet her family too. They were super at dealing with the very cold weather! At least it didn't snow on us!
Austin and Gabe got to stay in Utah with Nana and Papa, so we only had Nona with us. She didn't know what to do about the cold though! It's never cold in California!

The reception/luncheon at the Chevy Chase building was quite a feast that Tesha's friends had spent all night cooking! Fried chicken, fish, beans and bacon, corn bread.  It reminded me of our Folk Dance tour to the south.  And it was a hoot for us to dance down the soul train.  Tesha can groove!
We had a fun dinner at the Anacostia chapel (a converted Baptist church- ever seen a baptismal font above the pulpit?!!) catered by Cafe Rio, thank you Scott.  We got to introduce ourselves and get to know Tesha's family better.  We showed the wedding video that Peter and I had put together and all us sibs sang a spoof to Jingle Bells that the Jensen's rewrote for Scott and Tesha.  Here's a wink caught on camera where we're wishing Scott and Tesha a lullaby instead of Jingle Bells next year!
The Sunday after the wedding, we took a few hours to tour DC with Betsy and Grandpa Austin. Nona got to use her bunting at least once!  The purchase was worth it though!
We saw where Grandpa used to live when he was a young married man going to George Washington University and worked as an elevator operator in the Capitol Building.
It was also fun to quickly see the new Martin Luther King Jr Monument, new since I last was in DC in 2000 for my High School Concert Choir Tour.
They have a few of his memorable quotes carved into the walls of the monument.  It's a beautiful place.
We also got through the National Gallery of Art (I thought the boys would like a picture of Daniel and the Lions Den) and the Air and Space Museum in 2 hours.  The Smithsonian is amazing! And free!!

SO glad you captured those things on film; I have never seen some of them. I can't believe all you saw in a short 2 hours that afternoon!
